Overwhelmed By Grace

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by God that you didn't know what to do? Well that's how I felt this morning when I had a simple prayer answered in a huge way... No, I didn't pray for a million bucks or for world peace, but rather, I prayed for a single song to be played at church this morning. I know it sounds out of the ordinary, and you are probably wondering how a song can make a difference....

Well, you'd be surprised.

A song is more than just words written to the beat of music, but rather, songs can be true feelings and expressions from the heart. I don't know about you, but for me, there is a song out there for about every feeling I have. They express our happiness, our hope, our troubles, and ultimately help us to understand that we are not alone... that other people feel the way we do.

Now, I love the songs we sing at church. They are upbeat, life-changing, and emotionally captivating. A lot of the songs you can really get into - sing and dance, and maybe do the occasional tapping the foot thing. But then there are those songs that seem to fill your body with an overwhelming sense of peace. All your worries and fears seem to vanish, and you are only focused on one thing - having intimate peace with God.

So this morning, I asked God to have them sing "From the Inside Out," by Hillsong. If you haven't heard it yet, you definitely should. It may change you life. It certainly did mine...

...when God played it for me this morning at church.

Lyrics to "From the Inside Out," by Hillsong
A thousand times I've failed
Still your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in your grace
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out
Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out Lord, my soul cries out
